Robby held his breath as he hid behind brush waiting for the wild stallion to come down the path. He though the heard hooves steps as he calmed the big bay he sat on. He ready his rope and said a prayer as he began to swing his lariat. He felt the big bay set himself they were ready as he seen the tips of the stallions ears. So far the stallion had not smelled them. Robby let the lariat fly it sunk over the stallions head. The lariat tightened and the big bay set his feet as the stallion tried to drag them down the mountain side. Robby leaned back in the saddle and tried to make the bay set his feet even more. He was praying as he felt the bays strength giving the ground was giving then the big bay dug in and found solid ground they had the Stallion. Robby began to relax as he realized the stallion was diving at him. As the mouth of the stallion grazed him he felt a jerk on the saddle as the stallion moved up the mountain. The big bay dug in and jerked the rope tight the stallion reared and bucked diving in to the big bay. The big bay turned his rear to protect Robby as the stallion dove at them time after time. The battle between them raged on it seemed like the battle had gone on for hours. Robby felt as if he was going to pass out as he managed to work down mountain. They found cattle on the trail. The cattle moved down the trail with them. Robby was glad to see the cattle as he had been sent out to find the small herd and bring them in. The stallion stop diving at Robby and walked along quietly. It was dark and the path back to the ranch was hard to follow while pushing the cattle ahead of them. Robby kept an eye on Fire Walker he figured the stallion was just resting and waiting for his chance to get a way.The sun was coming up as Robby caught sight of the ranch. He left the cattle grazing in the field near the house as he headed for the barn. Fire Walker began to pull and rear as the big bay drug him toward a corral. Doc the foreman was watching as they came his way he ran and opened the gate to the corral. Robby and the big bay drug Fire Walker to a pole. Robby snubbed Fire Walker to it once Robby was satisfied it would hold Fire Walker. Robby rode out of the corral Doc shut the gate and all the hands cheered as Robby stepped off the big bay. Robby hung on to the saddle and balanced himself against the big bay. Robby couldn't remember when he had last stood on the ground or closed his eyes. Robby just nodded and headed to the bunk house. Tex could hear the hands cheering so he went to see what was going on. "What you men cheering and hollering about Tex asked?" Doc smiled and motioned for Tex to look in the corral. "Who caught him Tex asked?" The best hand you have on this ranch Robby, Doc said." You mean to tell me that boy brought Fire Walker in what horse was he riding ?"
